The MBIE Endeavour "Smart Bioplastics" Programme held its annual 3 day workshop in Rotorua, hosted by Scion. Bringing together both New Zealand and International collaborators has once again highlighted the strong collaborations established and the scientific progress made.
During the workshop, our Industry partner Convex opened up their processing plant and provided valuable direct commercial packaging processor insights to the team - new knowledge that can helps focusing and directing research efforts.
Teams are now ready to begin the last year of the programme, looking at prototype upscaling, composting, metabolic engineering, economic viability and Life Cycle Assessemt.
The Science workshop will be followed by a dedicated Industry Reference Group workshop in Wellington by mid September.
